Hello! عسلامة

I’m Noorain - an architect by training, a humanitarian practitioner, and a self-taught artist whose work explores cultural memory and perception. Through the stories I share, I unravel why people do what they do, the meaning behind rituals and practices, and the wisdom embedded in other ways of life. Shaped by cross-cultural engagement and field-based observation, my art practice moves between witnessing, listening and storytelling.

More about me !
Born and raised in Bangalore, India, I have lived and worked across a range of contexts—from Barcelona and Zarzis (Tunisia) to Mizoram, Bangkok, and Abuja (Nigeria). My sketchbooks have remained my constant companions—spaces in which I observe, reflect and document everyday encounters with people, place and culture. I absolutely love drawing on location and frequently indulge in map making, writing, recording sounds, and collecting crafted objects. I also have a fetish for musical instruments- the Darbouka topping my list :)

Currently I work in Humanitarian Affairs and Advocacy with Médecins Sans Frontières (very much not architecture) and mastering the art of living out of a 20-kg suitcase :)
